iPod will headphones w/ remote work on 80gb ipod classic?

id really like to have a remote to cycle through tracks for things like biking/snowboarding.

Apples website doesnt list it as compatible but i dont know if thats just cause its a discontinued model. (80GB ipod classic)

anyone know?

I don't think it would work. I also disagree with because it has been discontinued.. has the 2gen iPod touch not been discontinued? Allthough you could still use them as regular headphones.

120GB (2008) and 160GB (2009) models only. The original Classic did not support this feature and there is no firmware update for it to support the apple remote.
