I was actually shocked that Verizon didn't announce the HTC One yesterday. Every tech writer out there had written that it was probably going to happen. It still might, but Verizon wasn't going to announce the HTC One the day before the Galaxy S4 came out on their network. Maybe they also felt that HTC could not supply enough phones to meet their demand. With a few modifications to Sense and button placement, the One could be a great piece of hardware. But do consumers buy a great phone with no backup support from a company that is losing key executives and is kind of floundering? I guess we'll find out in a few months.

Well I was just taking another look at it from the Verizon action from yesterday, which was not mentioned in the thread you referenced, which you posted to 12 times in 3 pages.
Why would Verizon release the HTC One when they already have the DNA? They have already publicly said they will not be bringing the One to their network and interested customers should look at the DNA.
5 million shipped / sales so far whilst only 50% of Samsung's reported shipping / sales - is still a massive mile stone. I had predicted that HTC would be doing well if they met 10% of Samsung's sales / shipping given their lack of marketing prowess and muscle power. But to achieve 50% given that the One only released in the US a few days before the S4 is a massive achievement.
They will survive, lets just hope they focus on making the most of that great start and focus on the One as their only flagship and keep on improving it over the course of the year, despite others protestations on this forum that HTC are a dead company and that only nerds have bought the one.....

In the US perhaps, but as far as world marketshare goes, LG actually is number 3 behind Samsung and Apple.

*FYI* I don't agree that Apple selling 37.4 million iPhones last quarter constitutes as "lackluster" as the article claims, but it does show LG's successes as of late.
it's probably too late now, even if they introduce it now i dont think they would see strong sales, it's better to just leave it now.
Thanks for this information. I didn't even realize they were a large player. I still remember when LG was GoldStar. Back then they made nothing but junk, but their prices were good. I also remember when Samsung was like Vizio... Made good stuff for the price, but wasn't the best you could get. and look at them now.
The most interesting information would be how many of those 10.3 million Q1 shipments were Nexus 4's......
I've heard good things about the Optimus G though.
