Will i be able to purchase a iPad even though i have bought 2 and retuned 1?

I am on the waiting list at my local apple store for a 32gb 3G iPad and then i thought about it.....I already bought 2 of them!!!

When the WiFi first came out, I grabbed one....Well i later returned it before my 14 days and got a refund, came home and pre-ordered the 32gb 3G

Well the 32GB arrived and i still own it but the GF wants it! So now i am getting another. So this WOULD be my 3rd, but i returned the first WiFi to the apple store, so really its my 2nd???

Am i going to have a problem?

I would have my GF go in and purchase it but she cant use my card and she dont have one.
 
Might as well head to the Apple store and give it a shot. What's the worst they can do, give you a lifetime ban?
 
I believe the limit is two at one time and a lifetime limit of ten. A friend of mine has already bought four -- two at the apple store and two online, all using the same credit card.

'Lifetime Limit'

Yea somehow I don't see that being anything Apple would actually do.

This whole limit (2) is to TRY and prevent the ebaying of US iPads to people in other countries.

Why would they do that? Simple... it makes forecasting or predicting demand for product sold abroad in any meaningful way far more difficult when thousands (maybe even 10s of thousands) of iPads have already been washing up on the shores of europe and beyond.

Once accurate production levels is properly determined and the retail channel in all the markets are sufficiently met there will be NO silly talk about ANY limits.

This is a short term sanction for very specific reasons...
 
I've bought three so far. All at diffent times. Two 16G wifi, one 32G 3G.
 
I pre-ordered 2 WiFi iPads and returned them within the first couple of weeks because I was dissatisfied with WiFi performance. When I tried pre-prdering 2 3G models the system kicked my order after a few days. However, I stood in line at the 3G release and was able to purchase 2. The "lifetime limit" will likely go away in a few weeks once the first International roll-out is completed.

Yep... and even the 'Medical Student' (referred to in some stories) who is an avid gammer and was buying up iPads to send to people who lived in other countries that were fellow members of some gamers forum.

Don't you love how some writers use 'Medical Student Denied Purchase of iPads' as some kind of sensational headline and then simply omit the fact that he himself admitted he was buying iPads for fellow GAMERS who lived outside the US and him being a medical student had nothing to do with this!!!

Anyway he was doing exactly what Apple didn't want him doing...

Buying iPads and then selling them to people outside the US.

- Apple has finite supplies of iPads
- Apple is doing their best to ramp up production for all the countries.
- Apple doesn't need "John Doe US" to be an iPad pipeline to the world!

These 'grey market sales' do nothing but HURT Apples ability to PROPERLY forecast iPad demand in the various countries and will result in either over-saturating or under-saturating the various countries.

Apple isn't likely to actually ENFORCE a 2 iPad limit... Even to the guy who was 'denied' any further iPads admitted he had KNOWN about the 2 unit limit and had already purchased MANY MORE than that already before he was given the 'ban'.

Finally once iPad production lines are firing on all cylinders people will be able to buy as many iPads as their over extended credit line will allow.

And before someone calls me a fanboy... I've come down especially hard on Apple with the way they run the App Store and on a number of other things I found less than appealing. In this case however... Apple has done nothing wrong and any reports of 'Lifetime Bans' are just wrong. Now, I'm not saying some store clerk or manager didn't SAY 'lifetime' on his or her own (probably due to frustration over this kids incessant wining over not being able to by more iPads to resell to international buyers) but I'm 100000% sure Apple isn't going to impose such bans once the production lines (and initial demand) have been addressed.
 
Did you try calling the Apple store to find out? I suspect you're okay, but only they know.
 
There will be no problem at all. The limit is 2 at a time, not 2 for your life. I've heard the lifetime limit is 5, I've heard it's 10, unless someone official from Apple has clarified it then no one really knows. But as you can see from several testimonies here already, the limit is no less than 5 for sure.
 
Rather than start a new thread, I'm tacking my question on here:

I'm thinking of giving iPads to give family members as gifts.

The trouble is, I'll need at least five of them at once.

If I buy under different names (my wife and I) at the Apple store, will that let us get at least four of them (two each)?

Can I get one more under a kid's name?

What's the deal with accounts? Do they mean iTunes accounts?

I pretty much asked that same question at an apple store and they told me I would probably just have to use my wife's name to register them. Then i told him i had one wifi and one 3g, what if i was to sell my wifi to get another 3g, he said if there was a problem he would probably just have to get a manager to do an override. I got the feeling he wasn't quite sure.
