Interesting phenomenon. Vista is making people think that all new OS's aren't backwards compatible with recent computers....
I don't think it was because of vista that the OP is concered. The thread about the suggested 3d things in leopard taking advantage of core animation, for core animation to fully work you need GPU's that are capable of running Core Image.
After doing some research for you
It looks like your macbook is capable of running Core Image, which is required by Core Animation.
no this has nothing to do with vista, people were asking the same silly questions before the release of tiger as well.
It has to do with misinformed people coming onto MR and reading things like "OMFG the graphics card in the Macbook/Mini/iBook is totally suxxords and under powered" and it leaves them thinking that the computer isn't powerful enough to do anything.
I remember seeing threads like "should I get a mac mini or a g5 quad. I'll most be surfing the web, listening to music and maybe some light iPhoto work" back in the PPC days.
Yes, technology moves fast and computers don't have a super long life, but they don't become obsolete for years, not weeks/months

I clicked this thinking..."oh maybe its about a g3 or older g4 or something" but a C2D macbook. I guess I figured most people realized an almost brand new computer would easily run the next OS, but I guess I'm wrong.
Apple isn't in the market of alienating it's older customers that are still running older computers (like G4s), unlike microsoft who obviously doesn't care as they require 128 mb graphics card, 1 gb of ram, etc to run the new look of the vista. Those features weren't standard on PC's 2 years ago. I think vista might be the new ME...
