Will I be able to run Microsoft Office + Teams directly?

I have a MTO MBA mid-2012 which has been a great companion and still is running fine, but it needs a keyboard + battery replacement. Therefore, I'm thinking of upgrading to the new AS MBA. For work/school, I'm reliant on Word/PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams - will I be able to download those programs and run them directly on a new MBA?

I can only assume based on what we know that you'll be able to run the x86 versions via Rosetta 2 and the iPadOS versions natively....until Microsoft put a Universal Binary out there.

Thanks. Is installing via Rosetta difficult or is it done automatically by just running the programs' .dmg files? Never used it (I think).

It's handle via the OS, so it's seamless.

I would be surprised if Office and Teams didn’t work very well (even factoring in Rosetta 2. Still, might as well wait and see.

Yes Rosetta 2 is seemless and runs transparently with no user interaction needed.

There is always Teams at office.com in a Browser which is pretty much the same experience as the Desktop Client.

After the first Intel Mac was launched it took Microsoft two years to update from PowerPC to Intel and you had to buy a new version for it (Office 2008). But it seems it will be a lot better this time.

It has to be better. Office is now far more important to Microsoft than Windows and Apple a good channel for subscriptions.

An Office 365 subscription means it’ll drop at no extra charge with that sub.

Back then the Microsoft release cadence was 2 years between major release and Macs were almost an afterthought.
