Yet some people here posting in forums get confused between iOS 14 and macOS 10.14 Mojave and macOS 14 Sonoma same with iOS 15 and macOS 10.15 Catalina and macOS 15 Sequoia

Here are the national parks in California:
  • Channel Islands National Park
  • Death Valley National Park
  • Joshua Tree National Park
  • Kings Canyon National Park
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park
  • Pinnacles National Park
  • Redwood National Park
  • Sequoia National Park (inspiration for macOS 15 Sequoia)
  • Yosemite National Park (inspiration for OS X 10.10 Yosemite)
So Apple still has quite a few to choose from if they want to use park names.

Which macOS version will be named Death Valley?

I do wish they had chosen a name that started with a different letter. I'm going to be constantly confusing Sonoma and Sequoia.

After the BigCat vesions, macOS just became numbers to me.
I'm not particular familiar with the all landmarks Apple refer to now, so I just deopped it.

I wonder what Jobs had transitioned to though, surely something more fun.
Ah well, my Mac's work though.
Hope for more inspiring invention when Cook is gone though.

Same here. When people use the code names, particularly for older versions, it throws me for a loop. If they say "I'm using 12.6" or "I'm on 10.14" then I can immediately think "a couple of years old" or "about five years old". When they say they're on Big Sur, I have no idea how old it is. I'm not even 100% sure that that was one of them!

I was a terrible speller, then became a very good one, and now going back to terrible. Full circle. No matter how many times I use it, I cannot seem to remember how to spell prairie. (I got it right this time.)

I always liked to use the numbers only and was never interested in the names. But somehow I know almost all of the them including their number, at least until back to Panther, although my first Mac came five versions later with Mountain Lion.

I still have my Jagwa installation disks.
