I've a relatively new Mac user and I bought a 27" iMac just before Lion and am running SL. I have a Mobileme account and use a .me email. I absolutely, positively do not want to move to the cloud. But does this mean that after June, or whenever it is, that I will no longer have a .me email account if I don't move to the cloud? I hope I'll be able to keep my .me account, but not if it means I MUST use iCloud.

MobileMe will stop in June 2012. If you do not move your email to iCloud you will not be able to access your email. But your not making much since. iCloud is really NO Different then MobileMe as it relates to Mail, Contacts and Calendar. They are both in the "CLOUD".

And if I decide to move to iCloud must I upgrade to Lion from SL?

I also am still running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and using MobileMe. I really don't want to upgrade to Lion (and spend $30). Nor do I want iCloud because it doesn't have Gallery and iDisk, like MobileMe does But I guess I won't have any choice come June of next year.

This may or may not help, but here's something I just found out. I bought a new iMac with Lion. I opened an iCloud account on that computer. Now, I can use any computer to get my email, iCal, etc by going to iCloud.com, entering my info.
