Will I loose my website? (Built in iWeb, goDaddy)

So Im confused what is going to happen to my website. I built it iWeb, and I think its hosted with mobile me but I'm not sure. I'm also using godaddy, the domain I bought from them, and my website is being directed to that name instead of the bullcrap me.myname.whatever.

so what will i need to do exactly to keep my website?

Your name will remain in that is yours since you registered it

If you use MobileMe as your web host then that will no longer work when apple goes live with icloud. You need to find another company to host your website and point your .com ( or what ever domain name you have ) name to that company's name servers
 
I'm in exactly the same position (with several sites!) Hosted on mobileme account, with godaddy registered names pointed to them.

You say the hosting will stop when iCloud goes live, I'd heard that mobileme sites will stay up for a full year. Which is correct?

And how does one go about finding a way to create/maintian/host websites easily like with iWeb/mobileme etc?

Our understanding is that Apple will allow current sites to continue running through June 30, 2012. To ensure you have a copy of your site, we recommend opening iWeb and choosing 'Publish to a Folder' which will produce a hostable copy of all the data you need and store it in a single folder for access later. That way you'll have the data easily accessible should you ever need to put it somewhere else. Your Go Daddy domain will be active for as long as you registered it (and as long as you keep it renewed), and you can point it to any hosting provider you choose if it becomes necessary for you to move. I have the exact same issue going on on my end.

It does make me very upset that Mac.com (me.com) never really became that it was selling it self to be, meaning the money spent on it was really not worth it. But more than that, it angers me that now I will loose my layout, my hit rate on my page and to top it all off, I won't have my webhotel anymore so I can't store my site on anything unless I go out and buy GBs of storage to house my work.

I feel, honestly that on this particular product Apple totally screwed me over. I have bought subscription to me.com till 2014. How am I going to get THAT amount back now that they will discontinue my membership next year???

IS there a way to get back that amount?

And finally I loved iWeb, it was simple and even though it was very limited it worked fine with my apps like Aperture etc. So what's out there that can take over for iWeb and maybe even be better?

Any suggestions?

Depending on your needs, you look for a host that fits that needs. Check out webhosting talk as that forum has a lot of insight in choosing a webhost.

I've used medialayer and icdsoft in the past and those are very good companies. Both are fast, and their support tickets are answered usually in 10 minutes

I created my website using iWeb. My domain is registered with GoDaddy and they also host my site. I just publish my iWeb site to the GoDaddy server. GoDaddy doesn't charge a whole lot to host the site.

Thanks! That sounds good, I like all in one, simple solutions. That's why <ahem, cough, cough> I'm a mac user.

Just to clarify...

Are you saying that I can continue to use iWeb to create my pages and have a different company like go daddy to take over the hosting? Do you know if there is the ability to add a comment widget of sorts to the iWeb created pages? I had read that the comment feature would not work unless you used mobile me.
