Will I loose my XYZ@me.com mail address?

Hi
I want to change my primary icloud login/email address (created many years ago) to get rid of unused email account.
The only concern I have is my XYZ@me.com email I have now.
I know that apple abandoned me.com a while ago - all new users will get only @icloud.com domain.
Personally I like me.com very much and wouldn't want to lose it.
Anybody with the experience? - changed primary icloud email? - do you still have your @me.com address?

I'd assume they'd keep it for legacy sake. The @mac.com email addresses from the .Mac days still work as aliases for iCloud accounts, so I don't think this would be any different.

Thanks for the feedback - that's my assumption as well - wanted just get the confirmation from somebody who already went through the similar process.
