I want to do a fresh install of iOS 14 on my iPhone.

Of course, I will start out with a fresh install of 13.5.1 on my device and then install the dev profile to 14.

Why a fresh install? A former jailbreak has screwed up a lot of things on my phone including several accounts associated with apps and general software update no longer working.

Here is the problem...

I am not restoring the phone from an iCloud backup. This is a fresh install.

I know I will lose my photos and contacts. I know I will lose all my apps (but they can be redownloaded)

The issue is my photos and contacts...

If they exist on my Macbook Pro which is associated with my iCloud account then my photos and contacts will be ported over to a freshly installed iPhone as long as I log into that account. Correct?

In other words, no iCloud backup restore. However, the photos and contacts will restore because they exist in the cloud associated with Macbook Pro?

Please confirm this. Thanks so much!

iCloud Photo Library and contacts are different to an iCloud backup of your phone. So clean install, then sign in with the Apple ID and contacts & photos will be there.

I thank you so much for this. I am so relieved. I really need to start fresh but want to make certain my photos and contacts port over. Don't care about anything else. So, now I know they will once I sign into my iCloud account. Thank You.

Friends don't let friends jailbreak. 🤗

You need to make sure that you have iCloud photos turned on in settings - iCloud.

The jailbreak was awesome! However, over the years from doing it many times, I made some mistakes I should have known better not to do and it made iCloud restores a little difficult. Otherwise, I was very happy Jailbroken.

Thank You, I will make certain now though I think it is on my default.
