Will iBooks app work with iphone

It might not be such a bad idea to eventually release a version for the iphone. For those who don't mind the screen size it'd be handy and sell more books. I wouldn't expect it quickly though since it is a major selling point of the iPad.
Apple further detailed after the announcement that iBooks is iPad ONLY, no iPhone or iPod Touch. Now certainly they can change their minds later, but fr launch it will only work on the iPad.
Seems odd that Apple would leave this easy money on the table. Also I want to have a book on both so I can read which ever is convenient at the time.
I would imagine that eventually there will be an iBooks app for the Mac as well as the iPhone/iPod touch. If the eBooks are only ever on the iPad, then what is the point of saying they are EPUB files? Given the model Apple has demonstrated with every other media file they sell, it will be storable on the Mac (even iPhone apps are files stored within iTunes). And if there are a stack of EPUB files in the iTunes library, the least Apple can do is let us read them.
Alternatively they might be trying to enforce a certain public perception of the device, similarly to how they held back on the Mail app on the iPod touch when it originally came out, despite the same app working fine on the iPhone. People bought the iPod touch for its iPod features first and foremost. Only after that perception became commonplace did Apple dare to blur the line between the two products. Consider it a form of artificial differentiation between devices.

Boy o' boy - this one is a real head scratcher. I guess Epicurus is right, and they are rolling out the bookstore in phases, but it seems really stupid and unfair for owners of iphones who want to read books. I guess those in the media haven't noticed as they probably don't read much anyway. I use my iPhone all the time now to read books, but Barnes and Noble locks you out of there store if ur outside the US (I am), and some of the other apps like Kindle and Stanza are not so easy to use. Funny, i don't have an ipad to verify, but iBooks looks just like a port of the crippled app called Classics. Anyway, sure wish I could get something to read outta iTunes...

yes, ur right, it looks like it is one of the tent poles of iphone os 4. BUT, i wonder if that means i WONT be able to use it with my jailbroke os v3. ha!
What's there to wonder about? OS 4 ≠ OS 3.x . Doesn't seem that complicated to me...
