One of the reasons about high resale value of Macs is the relative long life of G4, G5 processors. During the past 3 years, G5 went from 1.6 to 2.7, only frequency increased, no new processors published (except DC G5). However, when Apple switches to Intel, there'll be a lot upgrade, July for DC Conroe, Q1 2007 for qual-core. There is no point that Apple won't use newest, more powerful processors. Then Macs will be upgraded more frequently than before. The resale value may drop more quickly than before. Just my thoughts.

Not really because although the resale value of Intel Macs will probably not be as good as comparatively priced PowerPC macs in the past, the PowerPC based model's prices are dropping like stones right now because powerpc is rapidly becoming ancient technology as sorry as it is for me to say that.
