Will iOS 9 finally bring the ability to skip animations?

Hey,

it's so annoying when iOS 7 and older shows its animations and you cannot skip them unless they are completely finished!

It's everywhere in iOS like unlocking your phone and you want to open an app -> not possible while apps are flying in!

You deleted a podcast episode and want to delete more episodes? -> not possible after the animation is finished.

Don't you think it's annoying?

Plenty of people do going by numerous threads about this over the past few years (since iOS 7 when this behavior was changed). Just as plenty of people don't really care about it, either because they don't even really notice it or just aren't bothered by it even when they might notice it.

Would be nice if that aspect of user interaction was changed, but I don't know how likely that is.

I felt the same way when iOS 7 came out, when jailbreak finally came along I never had to deal with it again. Forgot people still have this problem

P.S. iOS 8 is slightly better than 7, but my custom animation speed is like 3x faster than the default.

If there are people who don't notice the animation problem there won't be any person complaining after that it is to "fast"

However it is not the animation which is annoying but the complete process where you cannot do anything else but wait till the animation is finish to proceed.

Besides the software engineers and test person should notice this annoying behavior!

They might have noticed it but it was likely said to be a feature and not a bug--basically there by design (for whatever the reason).

Under the heading of "Small but Annoying" regarding animations, why is it when I go to Settings and turn a pref on or off there's a little animation to the switch? Does that slight pause enrich my experience in someway? Just flip the flipping switch already!

You can't seriously be complaining about the speed of the switch animation??? How many switches are you switching and how often for this to be a problem?

I'm assuming that you have 'reduced motion' turned on?

I think you may need to increase the number of hobbies in your life to decrease the priority of this problem for you.

Hey, I said it was a small annoyance and it does involve an animation (for some stupid reason) which is what the OP brought up.

But you make a good point.

Maybe I need to slow down and not worry about responsiveness but savor the delay. Relish hitting the switch, having nothing happen, then hitting it again only to find the first hit did "take" but the second hit negated it. I need to hit slower and not worry if anything happens and thank Apple that they're giving me time a little extra time to look at the glaring white screen while I ponder my decision on the setting I chose.

As for "priority of problems" I hope you realize that could be applied to a good percentage of topics in this forum, right?

The switches have no delay, are you tapping it or sliding it across? I also noticed some switches like Airplane Mode can lag for a moment, this is not part of the animation.

Even if the app's screen appeared instantly, you'd still have to wait until the app was fully loaded to use it. The animation is there to make that wait seem shorter because the app is loading while it's animating.

That's one aspect of it. When the home screen loads or you are switching between screens, before iOS 7 you could tap on an icon or swipe to switch to another screen before the animation has completed and the tap would register and do what it is expected, while after iOS 7 your actions would be ignored until the animation is completed (or the time it would take the animation to complete is done even if you reduce movement).

When you tap on app whilst it's flying in does it not open it automatically as soon as the animation's done?

Yes but it's hard to tap on moving icons, the worst part is if the app you want is on another page, no page turning is accepted until the apps finish flying in.

I hope so, it wouldn't hurt anybody to have it. I'm hoping for a "close all apps" button.

when i got back to stock iOS on my iPhone 6 i couldnt believe how slow these animations are. i felt like i am using a 4 year old device on its last leg. however i got used to it now and turning off the animations inside the settings helped a little

Where is there's a setting to turn off animations?

Are you talking about reduce motion?

I'm on an iPad Air 2, and iOS 9 feels slow. So far I a little disappointed.
