I have the iP4. My husband has the iP3GS. Tomorrow, my iP4S arrives. We upgraded under my husband's account (long story) and tomorrow we will active the iP4S under my account and switch my iP4 to his account.

He doesn't want me to download iOS5 right now on my iP4 (probably because he wants SOMETHING to be new for him) but I fear that my phone will arrive and I'll be playing with it while he is waiting hours for the new update to download, thus leaving him frustrated and bummed. So...my question is, if I update his iP3GS today with iOS5, will it transfer to the iP4 tomorrow when we switch phones, even though I am not putting iOS on the iP4?

I hope I explained this clearly enough.

No.. you'd still have to download and install it on the iP4 tomorrow when he gets it.

I dont think he'd have to wait hours for the iP4 update if you do it tomorrow, the slowness seems to have been resolved. :)

upgrading his 3GS to iOS4 has nothing to do with your iPhone 4. he will have to re-download and update the iPhone4 when you give it to him. shouldnt take too long though. Hopefully Apple's servers wont be under a huge load like they were yesterday.
