What do you guys think?

Which is more plausible? Will the costs be cheaper to integrate a GIG RAM chip?

I think even Apple may not know yet. The technology and market for those chips are rapidly changing all the time.

One of the problems with giving the current iPad only 256 MB of RAM is that it will take an extra year to get to 1 GB. I can't see them jumping to 1 GB straight away.

Unless they begin to differentiate within the line up. Like, perhaps the top tier model, say next year's 128 GB 3G model, would have double the RAM (and possibly slightly faster processor) than the rest of the line-up.

Not a useful post, ya know.

Dude, there are no leaked prototypes or rumors about the next iPad yet. no one knows what will be there. give it a few months! this is already your third or fourth thread about this non existent ipad 2.

That's why this is a speculative thread, bro. Notice the question marks in the post?

I don't really know why people are giving the OP grief. I mean, if you don't care about the subject he's asking about, just don't answer.

And I'd like to see 1 GB but I think it may be 512 MB.

It's too early even for speculation. As I said Apple may not even know what they are doing yet. What hopes do we have for reasonable discussion of this topic?

Take a look at his thread history and you'll understand.

The next iPad won't need RAM, it'll be a quantum computer that runs on puppy dreams. Unfortunately this means you will need a constant supply of puppies to juice for their dreams.

I bet it will be 512. I don't see anything pushing the need for 1gb of ram. Even with multi-tasking coming to the iPad it will not demand 1gb of ram because of the way Apple has implemented its version of intelligent/resource saving multi-tasking.

Thread reported. Went through your previous threads and they are nothing but similar speculation questions. I believe we have a troll in the house; and it's very sad, really.

Wow, give the OP a break. If you don't care for his threads, don't look at or post in them, simple.

I'm thinking it will be 512MB, but I hope for 1GB. I'm more curious to know whether the 7" iPad will replace the 9.7" or add to the iPad line. Interesting to know, a 7" iPad (double the screen size of the iPhone 4) at 1920x1280 (double the resolution of the iPhone 4) will have the exact same PPI as the iPhone 4 (Retina Display).

That's what I think is going to happen, whether the new one will replace the old or not, I don't know. I think the 9.7" iPad will also have double res of 2048x1536 (4:3 still, for business), if they continue it on of course.
