iPad Will iPad Mini instantly kill the Nexus 7?

I think just the announcement of the iPad Mini will cause 90% of potential orders to immediately hold off. Google is making hay while they can, ipad Mini = destroyer of the 7" tablet market.

Remember developers will not need to do anything to account for iPad Mini size since it will still be the same proportion as the regular iPad. iOS automatically scales, so no extra developer work. The iPad Mini essentially inherits the entire existing iPad app universe.

Depends on price I think. It would probably take a small chunk of sales, but not all of them. There will be a market for the Nexus, just as there is a market for Android phones.

Has the nexus had its moment? The initial rush has happened, seems those that wanted it now have it. Seems quite reminiscent of the kindle fire launch (well apart from it been available in the rest of the world).

Not too sure if the iPad mini will change much to be honest. I think those that want an iPad will get one regardless. If you dont want an iPad there's many to choose from.

Price wise Apple won't compete with the break even/loss making prices others are happy to have.

The Nexus 7 is awesome. I had a play with it, and it's just fantastic.

I never liked iOS for iPad anyway (a screen filled with icons?!), so I certainly hope the Nexus 7 continues to do well.

Nope, the same reason why the iPhone 4 did not kill off android phones.

Consumers love choice and one size does not fit everyone. Some people do not like apple, or do not like the iPad so they purposely look for alternatives. Additionally people chose a non apple product for their own reasons.

the Nexus 7 is and will continue to be a successful product.

I used a Nexus 7 for about 4 days the other week and for it's price point, it was a very good device and worth the price.

If there is an iPad mini, it's effect on the Nexus will depend primarily on it's price point and what feature compromises Apple made in it compared to the iPad (full-size).

I don't think an iPad mini will effectively kill off the Android tablet, but it has the potential to cut it's market share down considerably, just like the iPhone has.

It will certainly take sales away from it, and outsell it hugely, that that isn't "killing" it.

I got one because Id never owned an Android device before and it's fantastic, im just getting to the tip of the iceberg with what Android can do.

Not for me. I didn't just get the N7 for the fact that it's a tablet. I got it for the fact that it is an Android tablet as opposed to an Apple one. I will never get an iPad anything unless Apple changes core things about the way iOS operates.

I'm sure I'm not the only one either. If anything, the Kindle will die off and the Nexus, Surface, and iPad Mini lines will duke it out.

Im very tempted to get one, I am waiting to see if the iPad mini comes to fruition, and even then, if it is to large to fit in my jacket top inside pocket I will go for the Nexus 7.

I don't think so. My thinking is most people buy an android tablet because its not an ipad. If anything the ipad mini will eat into sales of the regular ipad.
