Will Iphone OS 4.0 even come?

I'm starting to think that Iphone OS 4.0 won't come out in June/July. They just announced the Iphone 3.2 SDK which the ipad is using. That already has some interesting updates. My the time it gets released, it will come to both the Iphone and Ipad in March/ April. Are they gonna announce 4.0 right after that for developers to start working on?

Why am I getting this feeling that Iphone 4.0 OS won't be ready until maybe end of the year. Meaning maybe Iphone 4th gen might just use 3.2 ?

I think it will definitely come, if there is a new iPhone this summer. They won't release a new phone without a new version of the OS

it is just a number, what does it really matter? the important thing is the updates and fixes coming, i'm sure they could have labeled it 4.0 just as easily or completely skipped it and gone with 5.0

I think they have released a new software update with every new iphone. Apple seems to be pretty consistent when it comes of software and hardware updates for the Iphone

cuz the iPhone 3G had OS 2.0 and the 3G-S had 3.0; so there's a good chance the next one will also have a new version

That's more like it. History seems to say that, but there's nothing saying that they absolutely will bring out a new OS with the next rev of the iPhone.

Of course 4.0 is coming. It's only a matter of time.
