Will iSIGHT camera in MBP work with MSN? or AOL or any other instant messanger services?

How about in XP mode?

cheers
It'll work just fine in iChat, Skype, and Yahoo! Messanger. Mecury and aMSN might work but I haven't been able to get it to work right with Windows people.

The iSight will work just fine in Windows XP. I've tested it in all three "major" chat clients.

iSight and mic works just fine in Windows Live Messenger and Skype under WinXP, like almost zero configuration required, I don't know about the other chat clients.

Doesn't look like at the moment I have any hope of directly talking on webcam with a PC user on MSN :(

Probably not. I haven't used Parallels yet, but programs like VMWare and Virtual PC emulate hardware. Basically, the Virtual Machine can't see the physical hardware.

Doesnt look like it will be anytime soon. They have only just updated it to 6.01.

This is the only thing I dont like about OSX is the MSN. Really is crap when compared to XP. I mean windows gets games, nudging, voice chat, video chat everything. What do we get? OOHH itunes integration how fun!!! Really wished MS would try a little harder. I mean imagine if Apple just stopped updating itunes for windows and made loads of extra features for the OSX version. There woul be uproar!

I think as more people switch to macs, MS will be forced to do something about it. Just makes me annoyed that apple try really hard to please the PC audience with itunes etc, and then MS just shove some 3 year old program on us mac users and forget about us. I mean come on. What MSN are windows users on now? Windows Live messenger 10 or something?!? Macs have just reached 6!!

Re: Will iSIGHT camera in MBP work with MSN?

I am using aMSN with my Macbook for over 5 months and it's working good! Isight is fully compatible with aMSN so you can send and receive Webcam video. My only complain is that audio doesn't work for know. It's supposed to be available soon with the new version...

I hope so

Yeah ive used amsn before but dont really use it very often. It really bugs me when someone comes online and the little thing in the corner pops up to tell you, and its behind the windows! Thats such a stupid thing it basically makes the pop up window pointless, if you cant see it. If they can automatically get the pop up window to the front of the windows when someone comes online, I will use it, as at the moment I am having to use expose everytime I hear someone comw online with amsn.

Video and Picture.

Also, I haven't been able to test it since I upgraded to 0.96, but in 0.95, I couldn't get no audio. Is that integrated in 0.96, or will I have to boot into Windows?:(
