Will it be safe to update to iOS 9 Beta 2

hi i know iOS 9 beta 2 isn't out yet but i'm a little concerned that if i update to it that my iOS devices will be locked out as i'm not a developer and i didn't pay for udid activation i will say i've tried iOS betas before i tried all the iOS 7 betas and the last few iOS 8 betas and i never had any problems any thoughts ?

I was thinking as i have an iPad and an iPhone i was thinking to update the iPad first and if it goes ok then do the iPhone.

I do have it installed on my iOS devices i was wondering if i update from beta 1 to beta 2 will i have a usable device without having to restore back to 8.3

You're clearly not a developer then,otherwise you would know, it's horrifically buggy, crashes, and the battery life is dire.

iOS 9 is not for public use, and you are violating the terms of service of iOS and this forum.


Developers like myself are actively reporting the hoards of bugs to Apple, it won't be anywhere near ready for prime release for a few months, and it's certainly not anywhere near GM state.

Not quite sure which version you've been using or what planet you are on.

Make sure beforehand, but unless Apple has changed something in iOS 9, updates don't do UDID checks, only restores do.

My iPad went funny while updating and I tried restoring and it worked fine no udid no nothing every time I went through setup I was waiting but no it worked fine

First of all, you should just wait for iOS public beta in early July. Developer betas are extremely flaky and many of your apps will fail to function properly. Public betas will not check for UUID, whether you use restore of update method.

Now, regarding iOS 9 developer beta. Installing these betas require UUID authentication when installing or upgrading as new or from restore.

Well, you probably chose "upgrade" option, which does not check UUID. Restore from backup or setup as new will most certainly require UUID verification.

I understand the itch. I haven't developed much of anything in 5 years, but I still keep my developer membership. Waste of money? most likely, but I know what I'm getting into.

I just had to downgrade and lost 3 years of messages because iOS 9 is so buggy, I can't sync with my computer nor can I sync with my Apple Watch constantly. It's not GM. It's like inbetween Alpha and Beta at this point. iOS 8 B1 was more stable IMO.

I remember there was a beta or two during the iOS 7 beta period (if I recall correctly) that actually enforced the UDID check, sometimes even after you already updated to it (not necessarily even in the beginning when you are installing it), and various people went to use their phones at one point having it on some screen informing them that they weren't using a registered device or something to that effect.

That reminds me.. Apple needs to move iMessage storage to iCloud instead of on the devices... Facebook messenger is killing iMessage right now... If it wasn't for phone number integration.

Can you fathom the amount of storage needed to do that? All the attachments people leave in their messages? Not to mention this is a security risk as it is no longer client side and would be less secure. Not going to happen anytime soon.
