Hey all,

I played around with the new MBA last night and I think I'm hooked. My only fear was the hard drive size. I don't plan to install much, but plan to use it for email, web surfing, and MSOffice. My fear ist hat I will run out of space on the hard drive. The one in the store only had around 10G free on it. It still ran plenty fast, but I'm concerned about space.

It would be really handy to have this with me to copy picture files too from my dSLR, but I like I said, I don't know how much room will be left.

How are you guys managing your space?

Do any of you have Office 08 on yours? If so, how much is left?

Ive got a MBA on order and I petty much plan on buying an external hard drive. They're really cheap now...u can get a 500GB for €100. I suppose it all depends on wat u really need ure laptop for. If u really need a light laptop then i wud say, GET IT!!! Otherwise, if u dont want an external HD and dont mind about the size then maybe get a Macbook with a 250 hard drive??

I don't have office on mine, but I do have a 12GB VM image, so that should more than equal out.

Other stuff I have installed: Fusion, NeoOffice, iWork, TextWrangler, NVU, Qumana, Skype, Adium, an abbreviated iTunes library, about 8GB of client files, Windows Remote Desktop, CVNC, and a bunch of photos.

Free space (on the 80GB HDD): 28.5 Gigs at the moment. I plan to move more music over in the near future, but that will be a few gigs at the most. I also plan to drop a few CDRs on here as well, which will run me down a bit further. Space has not been an issue for me so far though, and I am doing everything I need to handle my business.

I did the clean install per the instructions on the above sticky.

I have then Loaded:

Fusion VM along with Window's XP
Adium
All Good Solitaire (gotta have something to do on Conference calls)
Copywrite
Fetch
Google Earth
Office 2008
VLC
Xslimmer

I also "slimmed" all the files it would let me. I dumped in some projects I'm working on into the documents folder.

Mine is the 80GB HD and I have 56.15 GB available.

I still have to put Acrobat Pro on it as well as move the rest of my project files over.

Looks like I should be good to go! I have an XP maching with a 80GB hard drive that I have had for 4-5 years and it's not full, so I think I'll be ok.

I have Office 08 Mac, only takes like 1 gig lol.

If you go the 80GB version, I don't think you'll have any space issues. You can always get Time Capsule or an external hd for your HighDef media storage lol.

You should be just fine with HD space. Office won't be a problem. Only issue you could run into is if you're one of those people who enjoys collecting mass amounts of music/video files. In that case, you can always just get an external HD or Time Capsule to handle it.
