...To prevent people from recording 4:21 of blank audio, adding it to iTunes, renaming it to "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga, and getting a free song?

Might not seem like much of a concern to most people, but I just worry about people taking advantage of the service like this because it could possibly result in more limitations, and possibly even the removal of the service for 3rd party songs.

Interesting idea. I'm guessing that Apple has thought this through and you won't be able to grab songs this way. There's probably some waveform analysis going on as well to make sure the match files are actually what they say they are.

I don't see this as too much of an issue. Maybe I am wrong but if somebody wanted to go through the process of doing what you just said, recording 5 mins of nothing and then naming it, they could have illegally downloaded a whole album in that same time.
And the people who would consider doing this, don't want to pay for things, so I don't think many of them would want to shell out the cost for iTunes match

It will most likely be similar to what Lala used to do, since Apple bought that company for this express purpose. It uses acoustic analysis. Tags are irrelevant.
