Will Jailbreaking my iPhone allow it to use another carrier?

Hey guys, as you can tell I'm a noob at this, will Jailbreaking an iPhone 3.0 with pwnagetool allow me to insert another SIM card (different to the one carrier to which the iPhone is locked) and be able to use it? If not, how can I get around this?

i've DLed the redsnow 0.72 and the firmware for 3.0. however, i can't get pass the waiting for reboot part on my PC.

my iphone 3G already comes with 3.0 (7A339) firmware. will it still work with the firmware 3.0 (7A341) that i DLed?

for some reason, i just can't JB the phone... grrr

Get redsn0w .0.8 (the current version)

Get a tutorial from iClarified

If the phone hangs at reboot screen, unplug the phone for 2 seconds, then plug it back in.

Please get a tutorial so your next post does not begin with "Help me"

i tried that several times as well, but still it just hangs there.

also, i was using the itune 9.0. should i be using the itune 8.2 version instead? or does it matter?
