I'm thinking of purchasing a mac mini as my desktop. I Currently have a previous 2008 gen. 17" Macbook Pro. I'm using the Matrox Tripple head 2 go in order to drive two 24" HP LP2475w HD displays. It works great.

My question is: If i buy the top of the line Mac mini, will it drive the dual displays at full 1200 rez? I won't be using my tripple head to go for it, just the two display outs of the mac mini.

Also, I want to get a Mac Pro for my video editing suite. But due to cash flow issues, i can't at the moment. I was thinking of using the mac mini as my temp. final cut pro station till i can get my pro. Is it up to task? I don't do motion work that much. Just Final Cut Pro. And perhaps some HD editing on Final Cut.

Any ideas?

The Mac mini has a mini DVI port and a mini DisplayPort.

It's capable of running a 30" display at 2560x1600 and another display at 1920x1200 simultaneously.

Yes you can run two regular (DVI) 24" monitors off the 3/2009 or later mini with miniDP and miniDVI video outputs.

You will need the appropriate adapters. Apple sells these - MonoPrice has cheaper versions.

FYI - You can not run two 24" ACD displays with the miniDP on it, without an expensive adapter.

Cool. Thats good to know.

Will i see any difference than my current 17" macbook pro setup?
