Will MacBook Pro demand decrease?

Does anybody think that demand for the MacBook Pro will begin to decrease not that the Intel Mac Mini has been released?

I've been calling my local Apple Store almost every day, asking if they have any 1.83Ghz MacBook Pro's, yet they almost always sell out before noon. Since I'm in class at that time, I haven't yet had the chance to go and get one :mad: . I hope the demand for the MacBook Pro's will go down; does anybody else think it will?
 
of course eventually the demand will drop. Especially once pre-orders are filled, which they arent.

Here in Australia we dont even have the MBP yet. *grrrr*. we're all still waiting, and no doubt there's thousands and thousands of pre-orders.

Last I heard we are looking at the 9th Mar till ours arrive. but who knows. the aust apple store shows 3-4 weeks still. boo.

the iPod nano was also hard to get when it came to Australia. I'm glad I pre-ordered mine. Mates of mine were trying to get their hands on them for a few weeks.

If you want one bad enough, you'll drop a deposit at your shop, so they can hold one for you rather than selling out 'by the afternoon'...
 
Sure, eventually. However, the appeal of the computer is targeted at two different users, so it may take a release of an iBook/MacBook with intel for the demand to lessen. We'll see.
 
Houston Galleria Store let me pre-order one from them for free. Didnt have to have a deposit at all. I was shocked. But the Houston/Woodlands store isnt taking pre orders. Whoever is in the store that wants one basis for them... :(.
But I feel your pain. Im number 8 in line for a 2.0 GHZ~ and I will scream if i dont get it by the end of this week.

EDIT: Ahh f**** i already have screamed!

I want my mac... its gunna be my first :rolleyes: (my personal first)
 
Might try MacConnection

I got mine my last Friday from MacConnection (see my post on the MacBook Pro thread) - they received 300 early last week, and I was in the pre-order pool, but as of shipment, I think there were still some unsold - may be gone now. Note that they ship free, and no sales tax, and have (supposedly) a rebate offer - There may be some others (MacMall, CDW/MacWarehouse) who can offer similar deals, I don't know.

However, per earlier question, I wouldn't expect the Mini to reduce the demand for MacBook Pro, more likely to impact iMacs. I've got to have the portability, or I would have gone the iMac/mini route, and I'd guess most of the MacBook Pro types are in the same boat.

what will happen is that the supply will increase......this situation has happened before with other realeases......the stores start with none and then they get a few and then some more and then even more....the backed up initial demand gets met and then its back to the normal situation....it'll only take a couple of weeks

Actually what will happen is supply will eventually decrease, until people start going to Apple's webstore, clicking on the 15" Macbook Pro and wondering what's with the 3 weeks shipping time.. and before anyone knows it the worst possible nightmare of a MBP 15" buyer will unfold itself...

I am always in the camp to wait out till a new model is tested out by a bunch of early adopters. I prefer not to be the guinea pig with my own money for a new model. I am surprised there are so many people buying this even without hearing the actual user reviews and comments. I think this back order situation is more like Apple's trouble keeping up with orders as I don't think the volume of MBP should not be as much as the one other PC manufacturers spit out from their factories every day.

Our Albany, NY store seems to get 4 or 5 every couple of days.
 
Highly doubt the Minis will eat into the MBPs's pie very much. The price clearly shows two different target audiences. As a matter of fact, I think those that are showing off their MBP will actually be able to persuade some PCers to think about buying the Minis.

There is good reason for Apple to fill their MBP orders at a steady pace so they can spread out their profits more. Also, if for any unexpected problems occur w/ the MBPs, they can work out the bugs for their unshipped buyers. Plus, it helps the hipe ^_^

As a buyer of a MBP, i'd wish they fill their orders faster hehehehe so i can play w/ it! But as far as I know, first and second week Feb orders are shipped or being shipped.
