Will memory from a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo work in a 1.83Ghz Macbook

I just bought a 1.83 Ghz Core 2 Duo Macbook (shipping right now). I also have memory from a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo sitting in the house. My Macbook is 512mb, the memory I have is 1gig worth. Will the memory from the 2.0 work in the 1.83? On the outside, they look like the same specs.

Yes.
All intel apple ram works, minus the MacPro.

Thanks for the quick reply. All the sites I look at (Crucial, Kingston) had 2 different part numbers for the memory between a 1.83 and 2Gig. I figured I would ask and see if they work, prior to me installing it. Thanks again!

yeah I think that's just to make people 110% sure that the part their ordering will work in there machine. Heck crucial has ram for the 1.67ghz CD MBP which never even shipped.

I have been doing searches on all the Mac Forum Sites, and they come up with the same things you guys are telling me.

Crucial has different part numbers so that they can charge you more for the same RAM if you have a more expensive machine. It's all part of their extensive unethical pricing practices.

But it's all the same RAM. All Intel Macs except for the Mac Pro take the same RAM.

For the entire MacBook line (which means the older MacBooks and MacBook Pros), PC5300 ram is what you need. With the exception of the newer MBP, you can put 256mb, 512mb, and 1gb sticks in. With the new MBP, one slot will also support a 2gb stick.
