When I installed Office on my iMac the other day it said something about minimum screen resolution of 1280x800.

Since 11" is 1366x768 will it work on that?

Yep, Word is installed in some of the Apple Store Airs.

Stop worrying about it John, just buy one already. Or rather, wait a week -- If the whole suite doesn't work, take it back for a refund! No problem.

I heard you need at least a quad core processor with 1080p screen for Office. Don't buy the Air!

Office 2011 works without any problems on my 11" 1.4/4/128. I use it every day and share my documents with Windows machines at work and haven't had any problems, so I wouldn't worry about it.

False. This is how misinformation gets spread all over the web. People posting things like this without checking facts first.

I think the other guys are just joking. Office 11 works like a charm on an 11 inch air, I've had both since last November. There is no reason for me to use Windows for anything at this point.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but those listed specs are wrong. I have an internal source from Microsoft verifying that gpat is right.

Actually Office only runs on microsoft machines it won't even run on a mac. I wouldn't even buy a mac in the first place.

The problem with facetious posts like this is there are some who might read this thread who would be uninformed enough to believe this is true.

Exactly. Thanks for responding so succinctly. Your reply is better (and possibly more polite) than mine would have been.

Actually, I read it, blinking, for a few seconds, asking myself whether I had misunderstood matters in a fundamental way, and then reminded myself that Office runs perfectly well on my MBA. Equally, my irony button, or idiocy detector, seem not to have been fully functional this evening.

if you're concerned at all about 1366x768, just consider that is
1) the standard resolution of most budget 15" laptops in the market
2) higher than the resolution of the 13" MB and MBP.

So you'll be fine on that front.

I've been running Office 2011 on my Mac Air 11 for a couple months now and it works great. The only thing that I find a little challenging is editing Powerpoint slides. Given the screen size and aspect ratio, the slides are just on the small side.
