Hi,

I recently bought a 2007 Mac Mini (1,8Ghz, 1GB) in a stock clearance. Overall I am very happy with the machine and with OSX (mac newbie!) except that in some cases the fan get's a bit noisy when using Frontrow or iPhoto slideshows (sometimes upto 4000rpm or more). A bit disappointing compared to the silent operation when surfing or mailing (1500-2000 rpm). I contacted Apple regarding the fannoise but a technician that investigated the machine said he could not find anything wrong.

Currently I am still using an old 17" CRT at 1280x1024, but I am about to buy a new LCD monitor, full HD (1920x1080). The mini supports this resolution, but I am afraid that the the mini will make even more noise at this resolution. In my worst fears, it would even make noise when just mailing or surfing...

Any experiences to share here?

I'm using 1920x1080 on a 1080p 23" and my fans have never exceeded over 1550rpm. However, I have a '09 C2D.

I don't think pushing a few more pixels is going to heat up the processor. Its more just if you stress the processor with what you're doing.

I think you'll be fine.
