So 2 main things are on my mind:

1. Printing
2. Streaming Sound

---

1. With printing, i've never been able to "wirelessly" print using my airport express considering my Dell 1110 Laser Printer isn't compatible with the Airport Express. At least, when I purchased it 2 years ago there was no applicable driver to allow me to connect my laser printer to my AE and do wireless printing from my MBP.

Obviously I'll keep trying to dig online to see if any updates has come around...but am wondering if I was able to come across such a driver, obviously i'd be able to wirelessly print from my MBP, but what about the iPad? Would the new iOS support this?

2. I've always been able to stream iTunes from my MBP to the speakers connected to my AE...will the new iOS allow me to watch a movie on my iPad and stream the sound to my speakers connected to AE? Any idea about say, streaming a Netflix movie and streaming the sound to the speakers connected to the AE?

---

1 Revisited: What about if my printer was on, connected to my MBP. Could then the iPad allow me to print wirelessly?

Yep - so long as your MBP is turned on also. Not great, but the best you can hope for unless you buy a new HP printer...

from a brief look into it i don't think that will be possible :(

This doesn't quite relate to your question but you should be able to get your dell printer to work with your airport express and MBP. See here, for example:

I suspect airprint for iOS will use bonjour and therefore if you solve the MBP/AE issue it will also work for you iPad- can't be certain.

When watching a movie on your iPad, you can send sound to your airport express? That was the statement. Can you do that?

Yes, see screenshot for proof.

FYI this also works with YouTube; both the youtube app and embedded YouTube videos can broadcast the sound to an Airport Express.

What about to a first gen Apple TV? I enjoy using it as wireless speakers more than I do watching video on it. Likewise, I have an AE so it's nice to know it's not becoming crippled by AirPlay.

Btw if anyone could hook up my UDID I'd be forever grateful. Dying to try out printing and airplay but I need to verify my install.

I've also tried this out.

Whilst viewing the BBC news live stream (from BBC news app) I was able to send the audio to my airport express.

However, one thing I've noticed with airplay is that adjusting the volume on the iPad (eg the iPod app's volume, or YouTube video) won't affect the volume emitted from the airport express.
This puzzles me somewhat, as you can do it just fine from iTunes on a mac. Perhaps it's just a bug.
