I've been putting off getting a macbook pro for a while now, but it's gotten to a point where it's becoming a NEED rather than just a WANT. I have no other choice but to get it now, but for those who get now ... possibly a month before the release of Leopard, will we get some sort of credit/rebate when Leopard comes out in October? Has apple ever done anything like that before? I know a lot of people got free copies of Vista in January after they purchased their PCs in the months of October, November, and December.

By the way ... this will be my FIRST Mac. I'm so excited! Checking out Macrumors for the past year helped me make the switch.

In the past, once a ship date is announced, purchases made from that day forward get the new OS for $20 shipping and handling. No credit!

Does anyone (recall) how how far in advance Apple has announced a ship date for an OSX release?

Aww, looks like I won't be able to get the credit since I'm getting my mbpro either this weekend or early next week. Tiger only costs $129, so I don't expect Leopard to be that much more expensive. A lot cheaper than Vista! LMAO.

Is it okay to buy Mac OS on release date? Are they super buggy like Windows OS?

as long as its less buggy than the beta still is...eww

but like with all mac software they will release the first update for it the night it comes out..just like ilife 08 and the new itunes for iphone and the pro apps...no software is ever bug free
