I can buy an old Apple Universal Dock from around the Ipod 4G era for $5. Will this work with my new Ipod Touch? I know the charging protocols have changed so it won't charge it, but will it let me control the Ipod with the remote control?

Also, will it wear my battery out faster to be using it that way and then having to charge it, instead of having a dock that powers it?

Do you mean the 2G/3G or 4G?

I'm told it works with the following:

iPod mini 4GB, 6GB
iPod 20GB (U2 Special Edition), 40GB
iPod with color display 20GB, 30GB (U2 Special Edition)
iPod with color display 40GB, 60GB (older version)

Works but needs dock adapters: (The little plastic tray)
iPod 10GB, 15GB, 20GB, 30GB, 40GB
iPod Nano 2GB, 4GB
iPod with color display 30GB, 60GB (newer version)

Does it come with a adapter? If so you shouldnt have anything to worry about.
