will os x lion have native ntfs read/write support?

You can already enable native NTFS support.

It certainly is buggy though. And it still makes the spotlight and other hidden folders in all NTFS drives.

Good, I had previously tried both methods in Snow Leopard before and BOTH ended up corrupting the drive over time. Unstable isn't the word for it. I had NTFS-3G but that doesn't work in Lion yet; so I'm considering upgrading to Tuxera's full priced version, that does work.
Well MS charges a license fee for it. Over the years, they have reconsidered charging every digital camera manufacture for fat16 and fat32 support. MS originally gave them away for free but is still considering charging. Got to love them 
Paragon NTFS is the faster and most reliable NTFS driver for Mac. If you can afford, buy it.
I don't think Macs will have future support (out of the box I mean). Apple is distancing itself from MS. Remember the Mac VS PC ads? They don't do it (need it) anymore. The tendency is to use less and less emulation (Rosetta, virtualization, bootcamp, etc).
I use NTFS just because I use an external HD to share stuff with family and friends, otherwise I'll keep a Mac partition.

Since Apple added ExFAT support, I haven't needed to write to an NTFS volume at all. I acknowledge that everyone's situation is different, but is it practical for you to use ExFAT instead of NTFS?
I tried using exFAT on one of my externals for fun and it ended up needing a chkdsk under Windows 7 after a very short while. So I continue to recommend network abstraction over a shared drive in most circumstances.

Interesting. I haven't had any trouble, but like you, most of my drive access is over a network.
