I’m still on iOS 12 on my iPhone X. To maintain compatibility with my Late 2009 Mac mini, I can’t go any higher than Pages 4.1, Keynote 4.1 and Numbers 4.1 on my iPhone X and iPad Air (first generation). The iPad can’t go any higher than iOS 12 but I could update the iPhone. Should I? Will the iWork apps run ok?

Okay so I have Pages etc version 5.2.1 running on all my 13.4 devices and on a test SE running iOS 13.4.5 beta 1.

I deleted Pages from the SE and installed Pages 4.1 using iTunes. I can
a) create new documents which are readable on my other devices
b) open documents edited in 5.2.1 and Pages warns they were created in a newer version.
c) open the 4.1 document in version 5.2.1

Looks like you will be fine.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for doing that for me!

I’ll update to iOS 13 shortly.

Does anyone know if Pages 4.1, Keynote 4.1 and Numbers 4.1 run ok on iOS 14?

Thanks!
