Will the iMac 2010 generation be on sale once the refresh is out?

Similar to what they did for the iPad.

They won't be available from the normal Apple Online Store but refurb store will have them. Some Apple Retail Stores and resellers may also have them on sale right after the refresh.

Resellers - yes. Apple Retail Stores: They may have them, but their highly unlikely to sell them to you. (At least the last time I tried to get a older iMac (2009 a day after the 2010 update arrived in store) they told me the old stock had gone back to Apple. Might just be my local store, but they certainly wouldn't sell me an older one.) Resellers are easily the best bet.

Whay about if I buy now and than the refresh comes in less than a month? If my memory serve me right, Apple did a price adjustement for those that bought iPad and saw the iPad price drop ~ $100 right after the launch of the iPad 2.

If you buy it within 2 weeks from the launch you can exchange it, however since Apple never officially sells them as Brand New after the next gen launches - there are no price adjustments, and IIRC Apple hasn't, since the second coming of Jobs, ever given a dollar amount to someone who bought an old model of Mac just before a new one came out.

that was only for the ipad they did not do this for the macbook pro refresh you will be allowed to exchange it for the 2011 model but they will not price adjust. Apple will not officially keep selling the 2010 models so you will have to go the way of refurbs, or resellers you can try best buy i know the day or so after the MBP refresh the 2010 models were discounted.

Any guesses on the price reductions on the previous gen refurbs? I'm hoping they'll follow the macbook pro discounts with up to 30 percent off the high end models. A QC i5 27 with 1gb video ram would be very nice in the $1400's.

I wonder how the previous high end imac will compare to the entry 27. Predictions? Unless base 27s get i7s, ssd+hdd combo or a huge graphics card bump I think I'll save a bit and go for the previous gen refurb.

Sometimes there's enough stock that apple sells new prior models in the clearance section of the online store. These are not as cheap as the refurbs.

Cheers,
