Will reinstall of OS X Sierra delete kext files?

A system here as some corrupt kext files. (Kernal_task running amok). A lot of fixes have been applied but system is still very laggy.

I suspect this is due to corrupt system / kext files.

Will a re-install of OS X Sierra fix this?

Reinstalling Sierra will replace any existing system files, and leave any non-Apple files (third-party kexts, third-party applications, and user data) in place.
