It seems like the iPad Pro 11” is extremely popular. Several members have even moved down from a 12.9” iPad. The 12.9” size has been around for nearly 5 years. Will the 11” screen size follow in to the next generation iPads, that are supposed to launch sometime between the end of 2020 to the very early 2021?

I feel like the size is good, aspect ratio is great, the resolution is even high enough. I wish it would stay the same.

Who knows?

This is the third small size in three generations. That said, I think they will keep this size for at least a couple of generations because the form factor is perfect.

However, I bought the gen 2 10.5” instead because it’s great too and its form factor will stick around for a long time too, in the form of the Air. The 11” is great but cost 52% more for extra performance I don’t need and doesn’t come with any more RAM. I’ll buy an 11” after a few years when the performance upgrade would help me and they provide 6 GB RAM.

Yes because of FaceID. Too expensive to redo a different sized display 11.5 makes no sense and they won’t go back to 10.5” besides Logitech and other manufacturers have invested in the 11” form factor staying for at least 1 more cycle.

The 11" and 10.5" are about the same size. Basically, the 11" is the 10.5" with the top and bottom bezels taken over by screen space.

In landscape orientation, the 10.5" is 9.87" wide. The 11" is 9.74" wide. They chose this size on purpose, because it is wide enough to fit a full-size keyboard with 18 mm key spacing. In this context, there is no benefit to going to 11.5".

However, I don't think Apple cares much if third party manufacturers have invested in this size. Hell, they even orphaned their own 9.7" Pro after one generation. Apple's own 9.7" Smart Keyboard is now effectively a dead product after just one year.
