I'm guessing it will bc I doubt ATT will allow it. Free unlimited texts? Come on its too good to be true. Remember netshare?

It's been around for a while now.

Plus I can't see it really affecting AT&T too much. I looked into it and it is so convoluted that it's hardly worth it. You have to open the app to check if you got anything (unless you get it sent to you via email, which I could see as being annoying.. receiving email after email just to let you know you have a text), you have to use a different number other then the one you have through AT&T, plus it saves the texts in an entirely different application making it less organized.

I just think the SMS app from Apple is just a lot easier. Yes I know it is costly.

The only real benefit I see from any of these apps is enabling iPod Touch users to text.

I use free text unlimited with a yahoo "push" mail account setup just for that app. It is not as bad as it seems. It really only works if you send the 1st text. You can setup a Yahoo account like i did so if i am not in the app i will know of the reply, which usually is prompt depending on your friends reply. Most of the time i get a response right back and i dont even bother checking the new mail since i know its most likely the free text. The other thing you can do is leave the app open and just lock the screen. It will still chime a new text sound with the app open and screen locked. that way you can just skip setting up the pushed email notification.

I think with 3.0 things might even be better for this app. and it might be possible to use just as you would the native SMS app. I only use it to stretch my 200 texts a little further.

Like the person above said, it only works when you send the first text, and that person replies that text in a threaded conversation. If that person opens contacts and sends you a whole new text, you will be paying for it. If you are a heavy texter it may not work for you as you will recive the odd sms directly to your phone. It is good for you to supplement you 200 sms plan.

True but i have had yet to have one of my contacts NOT reply to the original free text. Everyone usually just hits reply after they read it.

It's different. Netshare is actual tethering using the cellular connection.

Text Free uses data which is separate from real texting which uses the cellular connection. It's not the only one that does this. Any of the IM applications can send SMS using data.

I love it. I've got unlimited texts now. If I get a text I reply with text free and people alwys just reply to the textfree number. I send/recieve like a 1000 a month pretty much.

Its too good to be tru imo...

Netshare uses the data connection. Data is cellular.

^^ I was just about to post that. Textplus is a unlimited free text app where you get push notification conversation with groups.
