I am considering buying the 2.4 Mini to stream to my 52" Sony LCD. I use Hulu, Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, and Amazon. I don't need it for bluray or DVD playback. I use a standalone player for that. Strictly for streaming. My connection is 20Mbps. Will this mini give me smooth streaming in 1080P? I have little tolerance for choppy streaming so i'm very interested to hear from people who utilize this function. Do I need to upgrade the RAM to 8Gigs?

I would hold off buying, a new mini is 'due' to be released if you consider the typical refresh rate.

Also is your connection wired? if so then 1080p should be fine. I have never had great results over WiFi but I guess that depends on the structure of your home / position of your wireless router etc.

My connection is wired (20 Mbps). What are the rumors regarding the upgrades of the new Mini? How does the current Mini handle streaming HD content from Hulu and Netflix?

It will play the video just fine, it's just a matter of if your connection can stream it fast enough. Definitely no need for 8GB RAM for that.

I've seen our internet speed as low as 10Mbps and as high as 20Mbps. Is that sufficient? I'm really just looking for a simple HD streaming machine that won't freeze up with all that data.

Yes the 10Mb/s connection and the 2.4Ghz Mac Mini will be sufficient.
