Which is a bummer. I guess I'll wait next year for the X form factor (with its dual camera) to be mainstreamed into the regular non-plus iPhoneNope, only the Plus model and the X. It requires Portrait mode
You’re correct for portrait selfies... but the plus models of the 7 and 8 can do portrait rear cameraIt requires depth sensing, and AFAIK only X has that.
But 8+ have OIS for both back cameras.Yes, least the 8+ gets it... what’s annoying is this is clearly a software change because tbh what is there Hardware wise stopping this on the 7+?

But why does the front camera support Portrait if it is one camera? We all know this gimmick is done with software and the telephoto camera was just the excuse too make it exclusive to the more expensive models.
