Does anybody think it will get updated next year?

Rumour will be non existent since rumours only seem to focus on high end apple products now and the announcement of the 2017 iPad was unnoticed in rumour mill.

I would presume so. It's Apple's low-end iPad, so next year it'll probably get the A9 A10.

(Unless you're talking about the iPad Pro 9.7" -- in that case, nope.)

EDIT: Corrected chip info.

It would be nice if it was updated yearly with last year's (or last, last year's) tech. However, I think Apple might go for a 2-3 year upgrade cycle for the budget iPad.

It already has the A9.

Oops, my brain was elsewhere. You're right.

No, Apple are not longer selling the 9.7" iPad it's now the 10.5" version that will probably be updated next year tho along with the 12.9" version.

Correction, Apple has discontinued the 9.7" iPad Pro. They still have the non-Pro 9.7" iPad with regular A9 SOC (same as iPhone 6s/6s+).
