Will the airpods and case lose battery if they are fully charged and not used with them in the case?

Yes, my case loses about 2 percent every 4 hours. I thought I had bad AirPods but after the 3rd pair exhibited the same behavior, I stopped returning them as defective. The case on its own is fine. If I don't put the AirPods back in it, it will remain at whatever percentage it was at when I took the AirPods out. It's the AirPods that are constantly draining in the case, thus forcing the case to charge them constantly.
