Hi, I was wondering Will the app store be 64bit only (no 32-bit app download) on the iPhone 5 when ios 11 is released in September?
So basically apps that are updated for 64 bit like Google chrome still can be used/install/updated?No, 32bit apps will still be available for 32bit devices running iOS 10 and previous versions of iOS.
Shouldn't the iPhone 4s go on the obsolete list first before the iPhone 5?iOS 11 bars 32 bit apps from launching.

Apple only states that the new app store is coming this fall.
It is assumed the update will also come to 10.3.x firmware as well since Apple has made no announcement of iOS 11 exclusivity.

So, as far as we know right now, you should expect to continue using your iPhone 5 until Apple deems it Obsolete (more than 5 years since manufactured).
BTW, next year will see the iPhone 5 go to the Obsolete list.

Well actually, Apple discontinued the iPhone 5 before the 4s. So maybe? It doesn't matter though, this doesn't have much to do with software support. You can still download (some) apps on obsolete devices.Shouldn't the iPhone 4s go on the obsolete list first before the iPhone 5?
Would you mind if quote which one are you referring to?It did. IPhone 5 stops at iOS 10, 4s on iOS 9.
Actually this has nothing to do with the official vintage or obsolete statuses. If you check the link it's about manufacturing and discontinuation date.It did. IPhone 5 stops at iOS 10, 4s on iOS 9.
Pretty sure all 64 bit apps will also have 32 bit compatibility. There is just no support for 32 bit ONLY apps.
I'm assuming that when the iPhone 5c/5s comes out, then the iPhone 5 stops manufacturing right?Actually this has nothing to do with the official vintage or obsolete statuses. If you check the link it's about manufacturing and discontinuation date.
I think the 5c and 5s are considered separate devices manufacturing wise. However, I'm guessing Apple will wait until after the 4s has been added before adding any of the 5 series, despite the 4s outlasting the 5. Who knows..I'm assuming that when the iPhone 5c/5s comes out, then the iPhone 5 stops manufacturing right?
