Anybody know if the Apple logo on the back of the iPad lights up?
I don't want to block it with a dark case if it does. :)

NO.

Unless there is an efficient way to light black surfaces, which are existing, but the iMac Apple doesn't light up either, nor does the iPhone.

Too bad because that would be really cool if it did and good advertising for Apple if it did.
:(

Yes that little novelty while nice, is a draw on a very finally tuned battery. MacBook's can afford it, the iPad not so much.

Uhm.... look again. It causes no extra battery consumption on the laptops - the illuminated Apple on the Macbooks are lit by the LCD backlight.

However in the iPad - like the iPhone and the iMac, there's a logic board in the way between LCD and caseback, so that wouldn't be an option, no ;)

and it would kill battery and cause heating problems. also since this thing is ment to be on its back a light up :apple: wouldnt be the best idea
It kills no battery whatsoever.

On the MacBooks, where Apple does it the apple is just lit up from the light from the screen (it's transparent and really close to the screen, so it just shines through).

i know but if they were to put it in a ipad it cant just shine through. it needs power since the other parts are blocking the light

Pretty much at the bottom of my priority list for the device since I plan to spend the majority (all) of my time staring at the other side of the iPad.

Not on the new led screens though.

This was my impression as well. I thought on the new LED screens, since there was no fluorescent lamp, the logo was independently lit. If it truly all comes from the backlight that is interesting. I learned something new if so.

What??????? The apple doesn't even light up?

How are they allowed to sell this thing?

I'm cancelling my pre-order and getting a courier.

same as the new iMac's.

Hmmm. I kind of want to cancel my iPad reservation and buy an iMac. Then I will remove the stand, remove the dvd drive, and replace it with a battery. Then I will put a touch screen in it. I'll call it the iPad Pro and nobody else can have one. NOBODY.

And just think of the free workout to your biceps, too!:p

I'm sure someone will hack the ipad to light up the apple logo. I know someone actually fitted a verizon mifi device into an wifi ipad to get 3g service. In my opinion would rather use the battery for something more useful.
