Lots of talk about the different sizes and I'm fairly sure I'm going for the 42mm one but will it have a bigger battery and therefore longer run time?

It will have to just to drive the larger screen. If not it would have a considerably shorter batt life.

The bigger watch may have *slightly* bigger battery but pick the watch that fits YOU because if it's too big on your wrist you'll feel silly buying the equivalent (kinda lol) of a size-too-big t-shirt because it's made of stronger cotton...

You could say the same about the iPhone 6 vs 6 Plus. Even with the larger screen, the battery life is significantly better in the 6 Plus.

I'm just pointing out it MUST be a larger battery just to be at least the same batt life as the 38mm. So by using a larger batt the 42mm may end up with a longer batt life like the 6 Plus did.

I'd think a 4mm difference is nothing like the big jump in battery life going from the 6 to the much larger 6+.

Yes I agree but if the larger watch dose even slightly longer battery life it could be enough to sway potential customers

How long do you think it will take to charge? I am thinking 30 minutes Max!

It took about 45 minutes to charge my Moto 360 with wireless charging, which is inherently a really slow charging method. This MagSafe inductive charger looks more efficient, so I'll go with your guess of 30 minutes. I'm thinking I'll be able to charge it up to full while I'm taking my morning shower.

An extra 4mm is not a lot of extra battery room. :)
The larger Watch is not just taller though, but also wider by a slight amount. If all of the extra internal volume is actually dedicated for battery though remains to be seen. We might have to wait for the inevitable teardowns, assuming anyone can get inside these things without wrecking them... (No visible screws on the outside means copious amounts of Magic Apple Glue will have been used for assembly... :p)

Certainly the bigger iPhone has a bigger battery, so it would not go against any current "apple philosophy".

Re extra battery space

I'm guessing it will, but not by much. An extra 4mm is not a lot of extra battery room. :)

I'm not clever enough to do the maths exactly, but it may translate into a reasonable percentage increase. Bear in mind that the case takes up some of the 38mm distance, so the battery may well only measure (for sake of argument) 32mm. As the 4mm increase won't require a thicker case, the battery in the 42mm may well be 36mm. That is a 12.5% increase. Take into consideration a similar increase in the other direction, and that could make the battery 25% bigger in the 42mm watch. Not to be sniffed at!

Here you go.
38mm = 92,480 pixels
42mm = 121,680 pixels

So the 42mm has over 27% more pixels to drive. So if all other things are equal and the 38mm had a 350mAh battery the 42mm would need a 460mAh for relatively the same battery life.

What? You can have half pixels you? You say an nonsense here.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. Are you saying my math is wrong in some way? If so please provide what you believe is the correct calculation.

I see English is probably a 2ed language for you. Please try and rephrase in a more understandable statement.

38mm 340x272 = 92,480
42mm 390x312 = 121,680

I'm guessing he's unfamiliar with murricans' use of commas to separate up large numbers. In Euro Disneyland, the comma is used to indicate decimals.

*shrug*

I see and could be.:eek: However the math still works the same for 92,480 and 121,680 or 92.480 and 121.680.

I would think that the number of pixels is not directly proportional to power requirements. Also I think a 460mAh Lithium ion cell would be far to large to fit in the 42mm watch

It's strange for years there was a new battery breakthrough what seemed like every week that offered "double" the life, or a super "quick" charge. Now I hardly ever hear of a new battery breakthrough nor do I ever hear of any of those that finally made it into consumer world.
