I am praying everyday for the core 2 duo to disappear next week

hoping that the mac mini will finally have a decent configuration compared to other macs

any luck that God received my SMS ?

The mini has just had a refresh and tbh the c2d is a bloody good chip!

God = Steve Jobs, right? =)

Sorry, not going to happen.

minis were just bumped -- and the C2D in the mini has a long way to go.

current fasted C2D in the mac lineup is a 3.06 -- so Im gonna assume that the next version will have something below that but above the 2.66 you can get.

so the next versions will be
1) 2.53 or 2.66 for $599
2) 2.8 for $799, with option for 2.93 or 3.06 chip.

The mini wont lose the C2D until the MBP does, possibly not until the macbook does. I suspect that we have at least one more generation with the C2D, before it moves to either i3 or i5.

I seriously don't think so. Do you think that Apple will HP, Lenovo, Dell etc. run their machines with dual core i3's and i5's and Apple sit back and run their machines with C2D's. No way. No how. Not going to happen. A update is going to happen very, very soon. Early march or early April. But I am hearing sooner than that. We might get surprised and see a announcement next week. Their Macbooks will be upgraded next week. What makes you think that the Imacs and Mini's will be far behind.

I never said that the iMacs would be behind. You can already get i5 and i7 iMacs. I would not be surprised if all iMacs move in this direction. However apple like to keep a distinct difference between the iMac and the mini. Which would mean that I would be pleasantly surprised if the mini went i3 and completely shocked if they went i5. I don't think that i7 is even a possibility. I also doubt that macbooks will be updated next week, MBPs yes, but not macbooks.
I honestly believe that it will be between 3 to 6 months after the MBP is updated to i3/i5 that the mini will be, and as I said before I would if not expect, would not be in the least surprised that there was, one more update that is C2D.

in a weird kind of way i hope they do change to i3 or i5 soon, will bring the prices of old c2d chips and mini's down :D

yes im very cheap i know

The 21.5 imac is their bread and butter mac. The 21.5 outsells the 27'. Apple would still be keeping a distinct difference between the imac and mini buy the 21.5's running dual core i5's and the mini running i3's.

A update is coming, very, very soon. Not three months or six months from now. Core 2 Duo has nowhere else to go. 3.33 in the dual core is the fastest there is. And Apple already offers that. This generation is the last for the C2D.
