Im looking to buy a mac mini and use my TV for the monitor. I would be using it primarily for music, streaming movies etc... Just wondering if I use the hmdi port to the tv if it will also take care of the audio to the tv as well?

Yes and no. If it's a previous gen then no. If it's the new mini then yes.

ahh ok thats why I was seeing mixed things about it... Yeah I wouldnt waste my time with a used model when the new ones are only $650 anyways

The previous generation did not have HDMI. It had mini-DVI and mini-DisplayPort. You could get HDMI via adapters, but the OP asked if the "HDMI port" would transfer audio.
