I am hoping to get a new iMac by the end of the tax year (UK) and am going to hang on as long as I can as I don't need it now, and I reckon it's worth waiting for a possible update.

What do people think?

I tried thinking once, got a really nasty headache. Won't do it again. :D

Seriously though, I doubt there will be any update. If there is one, it'll be past March closer to summers end.

I don't think it'll be updated by then. The next thing to be updated are the MBPs and no one even knows when that is.

Well, iMacs usually get updated every 6-9 months or so. But this new iMac is so successful in my opinion, and up to date specs, that updating it is quite unnecessary. I actually apple is gonna update it in late july, around the same time the aluminum imacs came out. they will probably get this new logic board called the "montevina" or something like that. Penryn Processors. And because of those two things, maybe it will even allow 4+GB of ram.
