I think they may introduce a matte screen but i don't know and I'm not sure if anyone does. They may do something small but i would doubt it, if anything i would say matte screen.

Since they are referring to it as the mid 2007 intel iMac then it certainly would make sense that they would have another update this year but considering how long it was since the last update I doubt it.

before christmas there´s no way they are releasing anything

They knew some people where gonna complain about glossy screen, gpu, ect. They will stick with their choice for as long as people keep buying it.. and their are buying it.

We could see an update in january if things go really wrong for Apple, and they aren´t.. people are buying it.

They main focus until January is gonna be Leopard (maybe some iPod update).

uhh... Just because its called the mid 2007 imac doesnt mean squat. August is technically mid 2007, september and on is late 2007. I dont think we will see anything but maybe a matte screen option.

I don't really see how "August is technically mid 2007, september and on is late 2007." explains why "Just because its called the mid 2007 imac doesnt mean squat."

If they were only releasing one iMac in 2007 wouldn't they just call it the 2007 intel iMac? For the record, I said I didn't think they would anyway.

The models are always named after the time of year/month they come out in - so that a user can look back and figure out when they bought theirs and look for the one that suits.

I'd be astonished if one came out before MWSF and even that might be pushing it. Bear in mind that the previous 24" iMac was a year old. Last time I recall such a swift update was the last PPC iMac going to Intel. PPC one with iSight came out in Septemberish and the new Intel one came out in Jan.

I have a feeling that a matte option for all models along with a boost in stock RAM (1GB to 2GB) for everything but the low end 20" will be all that we see anytime soon (like in the next year soon).

Goodness, all I am saying is that a naming scheme that includes dividing the year into parts is obviously to differentiate between more then one model per year. Such as the white intel iMac:

Intel Core Duo processor: 17-inch iMac (Early 2006), 20-inch iMac (Early 2006)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor: 17-inch iMac (Late 2006), 20-inch iMac (Late 2006) and 24-inch iMac (Late 2006)

This was to be taken along with my next statement which was that since there was so long in between the last update I doubted that it would happen. Which gets repeated at me as proof against an idea I didn't even believe in, LOL.

I highly doubt you will see a matte screen after the big SJ said during the release "Customers really love the glossy screen"

Sorry you graphics folk, Apple doesn't love you anymore. They are after the general consumers who prefer glossy for all their models except the pros (Mac Pro etc).

I seriously doubt that Apple are going to make any changes to the iMac this year. If any of the computers would get a change before 2008, it would be MacBook.

yep, totally agree with that. MacBooks - possibly (and MacPros). iMacs - no.

I think iMac may get a refresh in April at the earliest. Somehow they still won't put what people want in that one either.

It was Oct - Jan; 3 months. That update and this current one are the two records for length of time between imac updates (at least since the imac went G5; I'm not sure about the G3 and G4 days). On average, it's about 6 months. So seeing a new one in January would be entirely plausible. It largely will depend on how fast intel has new chips available for use.

I will likely be buying several iMac's in late-March / early-April 2008. I fully expecting to be thinking, "dang, I can't believe there hasn't been a refresh yet!"

:)

but might there be new options?

the old 24" had a 7600gt option, surelly these could apear on the apple store as an option?

They've just released a new product line with a few different options on it, so I can't think of any reason why this would then receive a change until next year at some point.
