Does Verizon use GSM micro SIMs in there phones? If they do, is this our long waited-for answer?

What about it being "Unlocked"? So if I am with Verizon, there is absolutely no way (besides hacking, and switching carriers) I will have any benefit with the iPad+3G?

I'm confused - why do you think you need to switch carriers? The iPad runs on AT&T, but is billed by itself and not locked into any plan. So if you are on Verizon for your cell phone like I am, you can still get a 3G iPad and just pay AT&T for it.

Based on the current information, no, the GSM radio for 3g will not work with VZW. As someone mentioned your best option will be to get a Mifi from VZW and use the Wifi on the iPad for your connection.

So I can still use Verizon, but just have this $15 or $30 per month fee just from AT&T? So people are complaining about this because they would like to be organize and have this $15 or $30 fee with the same company just to keep things simple? Do I need a package with AT&T first, or can I just buy the Data service package only?

I can't realistically use my iPad and my iPhone at the same time.

AT&T really needs to market a iPhone+ data plan for the iPad.

From what they announced today - correct, you can just get the $15/30 plan from AT&T with no other services.

Except if you live in one of the many areas where Verizon's coverage is better.

The only reason, I think, that I would need the $30 per month is if I was downloading movies from the iPad; If i'm not (Downloading: Apps, music, internet [using WiFi most of the time]) I should be fine with 250MB right?

Verizon is a bit better, but I would totally take the $15 for anywhere internet!

The data plan for you iPad is NOT required. You can buy a Wifi ONLY iPad, OR you can buy the Wifi + 3g iPad.

ATT is offering 2 plans. 250mb per/mo for $14.99 OR Unlimited for $29.99.
If your only going to DL music, books, email and web, yes the 250mb plan would likely work very well.

The best part about either plan is NO CONTRACT. Simply pay as you go for data, which imo is the best thing I heard about ATT in a long time.

IF you wish to use Verizon, you do not have to Pay ATT anything, just buy the Wifi only model, purchase the Mifi device from VZW but it will cost you 60/mo vs the AT&T plain which is specific for the iPad.

I'm on Verizon for my cell phones and have no plans on changing. But for 15/30 a month, I'll live with the spotty AT&T coverage near me for an iPad!

Ok, so this will work! So I can *technically* use this anywhere! Simply using two carriers!

iPad + VZW MiFi mobile hotspot . . . is it really that hard to figure, VZW fans?

Let's see... $60 a month for a MiFi and lugging it along with the iPad or paying $30 a month and lugging one device around. Tough choice...

If you are sugjesting to use the MiFi, that is $60 compared to $15. and everything is wireless, not this little black box that I have to carry around and turn on anytime I want to see if I have a email!

Except AT&T's coverage map has huge holes all over the nation. A lot of their supposed coverage isn't even on their own towers, which is not even referring to their pitiful 3G range. Staying exclusive with AT&T is a joke.

I am not switching to AT&T! Where I live, AT&T has pretty good range, so it will work excellent with me! I am still with Verizon except my iPad.
