Will the M2Pro MBP run hotter/noisier than the M1Pro?

It appears the new M2 chips don’t pack more power by using smaller nm processes but rather just by having more—more cores, a bigger neural engine, etc.

The M1Pro MBPs ran surprisingly cool and the fans hardly ever needed to be activated for many people. Will the new MBPs with M2Pro chips stay just as cool and quiet? Or will they run hotter/activate fans more because of the architecture of the M2Pro chip?

That sounds more than likely. I don't see there is much room for larger cooling, so increasing RPM probably is logical. Maybe also allow it running hotter until turn on fan. But we'll see, nothing is sure until it is out.

your assessment lines up with the rumors, m2 pro probably most likely be 5nm still, in that case a higher clock and more cores like what we seen from m1 to m2 is likely, honestly the mbp chassis has room for more thermal, so even if the new mbp pumps out more heat i don't think it will be like intel macs level of thermal.

Unknown -- no one can answer your question (at least, no one who KNOWS what the answer is).

But my GUESS is that there will be little-to-no difference from the ones that are being sold now.

Likely? Yes. If the M2 (which is the base) is already a hotter and more powerful hungry chip, then the Pro/Max chips can reasonably be assumed so.
