Will the Mac Mini get intel's latest Ivy Bridge mobile chips? It would be awesome if they switched to Trinity, as most apps are GPU-bound not CPU-bound, but given Thunderbolt requirement Apple is very unlikely to switch. Will apple refresh the mac mini with ivy bridge or wait until another year?

Ivy Bridge is the safest guess. You know if they could deliver a $499 Mac mini with Trinity I'd say jump all over that.
There are a bunch of uses for a nice little half-kilobuck computer.
Yeah, but I'm doubtful that the mini will get any upgrade at all. Apple used to shrug off refreshes of the mini before, and there aren't a lot of people buying mac minis.
Good seller for business needs however. Consumers tend to move towards the iMac but the Mac mini makes for a nice basic computer for businesses and it's really pretty cheap seeing as how $50 turns it into a mini server.
Do we know how much AMDs Trinity is going to cost?
Where do people get this idea?
I mean, it's possible I've missed it, but do Apple actually say which products they sell the most?
Also, I know a lot of people with minis, who don't want to change their screen, or just like the form factor.
Anyway, on topic, I hope they do, but I'm more interested in what GPU they are going to put in the next one, ivy bridge or not

People want the mac mini size . it is a great dvr/pc/ht in small areas. see thumbnail .
this is my kitchen install .
wires are sloppy due to a visit from cable vision.
this is a 2010 refurb mini cost 469 ram 40.
tv jvc 32 inch cost 320. mount cost 40. did not bother to put in an ssd. total cost 869 before some discounts.
true cost 850. behind tv is a backup fw800 hdd in a small 2.5 inch case cost 100 this is a nice setup grand total 950. I had a keyboard mouse remote.
this is better then an 27 imac for my needs in this room.
it replaces a 2009 27 inch imac cost 1700.
why is it better.
I wanted a tv dvr pc for the room. pc for net surfing net flix etc. so the core 2 duo is okay. cost half that of the imac. and the 32 inch flat screen has print big enough to keep at 1920 x 1080 setting.
the 27 inch imac needed to be in 720p setting to read the print when surfing the net.
point is the mini sells more units then people realize.

For 568 bucks you get in on lion.
add 40 for ram easy diy.
add an ssd (under 200 for 256gb is now possible ) not as easy a diy and it is quite a good machine.

It will definitely get Ivy Bridge, probably around the same time the Air is refreshed (like last year). Intel's second round of IB chips were just released, including the dual-core ones likely to be used in the Mini.
I think it will be more of an incremental upgrade-- the base graphics will be the biggest change. Might even eliminate the need for discrete graphics. Sandy Bridge was a pretty big leap forward so don't expect HUGE performance gains this time around, just a moderate spec bump. Since I just got a new mini server I'm interested now in waiting for the Haswell versions in 2013.

Whether or not Apple will update it, a number of retailers are speculating that Apple will.
Is it possible that the corporations are sensitive to the opinions and rumors proposed by postings or do they get a high level heads up from the manufacturer that somethings in the pipeline? Thanks for your perspective...

They only find out that new products are coming when Apple announces publicly or when Apple sends them a consignment which they are under strict orders from Apple not to open before a certain date and time or some of the major resellers may have new part numbers show up in their systems shortly before the product release. I just bought a new Mac Mini Server on June 1st... if they will update let's hope they get announced before June 15th

It was monday, no new mini announced, but the last 2 minis (2010 & 2011) were not either, they were both silent update (someone can correct me if I'm wrong
)I really hope we'll see an upgrade around ML release.
It would be perfect timing b/c later in September/October it's iPhone time and there is also this back to school thing (though the mini is not part of that, but if they update the iMac why not also the mini)
